The Bible is filled with apocalyptic, or end-times,
literature. Mark 13 is a type of
apocalyptic literature, as are some of the prophets of the Old Testament and
Revelation, for example. Each of these
stories teaches us about the end of the world.
Over the centuries, people have come to believe they provide a
step-by-step blueprint for how the end will come. They see wars and natural disasters and
believe they are signs for the end. It’s
no wonder 22% of us think the world is coming to an end!
The
problem is that apocalyptic literature, like Mark 13, wasn’t written as a
blueprint for the end. It was supposed
to be a roadmap to the future. Enjoy!
